LOCAL POLITICS AND NEWS:

Yeah, we like “old” media, so we both read The Miami Herald and listen to WLRN regularly. You probably already do too though, so these links are here to reassure you.

But we also like alternative media, so check out The New Tropic daily and The Miami New Times routinely for local news and sometimes investigative reporting you cannot find elsewhere.

UM Law Professor Michael Froomkin’s discourse.net. He’s also a fellow Miami-Dade DEC member, and he does a great breakdown of local elections, especially judicial contests.

Elaine de Valle’s Political Cortadito is a must for anyone interested local Miami politics. We may not always agree with her analysis, but she writes about local politics in a way that only a Pulitzer Prize-winning former Herald writer can.

Everyone else may have The Onion, but we have the The Plantain in South Florida.
