We have the historic opportunity to rid our state of a Jim-Crow era voter suppression tactic (passed in 1868!) by voting YES on Constitutional Amendment 4 to restore voting rights to convicted felons who have served their time.
Restoration of voting rights to ex-felons will close a particularly shameful chapter in Florida’s history.
Florida is one of only four states in the nation with a law of this kind on the books.
Florida strips felons of their right to vote at a higher rate than any other state, barring more than 10% of its overall adult population — including 21.5% of African-Americans — from the rolls, according to the Washington, D.C.-based Sentencing Project.
